As a photographer in Flanders, it is unthinkable not to have a photo studio. Half the time, unfortunately, it is impossible to photograph outside (think winter, soon dark, rain…) . Especially if you specialize in maternity and newborn photography, as I do. I love nature, so I love having my maternity photo shoots outdoors. I love discovering new locations and incorporating beautiful nature into the photos I take. But unfortunately that’s so not always possible … So of course I’m super happy to have a great photo studio! Since October 2022, I have moved to a super nice, very spacious space in the Kruitfabriek in Vilvoorde. The space has high ceilings and exudes creativity. The ideal place to do my thing in complete freedom … Wonderful I find it there.
Vilvoorde obviously sounds familiar to everyone, but there is still sometimes a false image about Vilvoorde. For example, I often hear that people think it is in Brussels, which is therefore not true. It is a Flemish municipality, bordering Brussels. This makes it super centrally located in Belgium and very easily accessible by both car, and public transportation. There are many beautiful parks, fine restaurants, nice stores …
Aside from the fact that I myself enjoy living in Vilvoorde and working in the super fun Kruitfabriek, there are other great companies that may take up residence there. The Kruitfabriek is an independent and sometimes quirky cultural venue. On weekends, you can enjoy coffee at GAYO, babies and toddlers can attend the creche of the Sunshine, on every first Sunday of the month, hosts a delicious brunch and fun brocante market organized, the hall of the Kruitfabriek is available for rent for events, there is a fun circus school, a bicycle repair shop, a workshop, a black-on-white pickup point and so much more. It is also right next to the Brussels – Scheldt Canal. You can easily park there. It’s a real upcoming neighborhood!
